Made in Italy with artisanal care, the Static table clock perfectly embodies the spirit of 20th century design: pure lines, studied functionality and a touch of irony. Signed by the designer Richard Sapper, one of the protagonists of industrial design, won the prestigious Compasso d'Oro in 1960 precisely for this creation.
The metal case gives the object a presence solid, material and almost sculptural. The aluminum dial houses the hour, minute and seconds hands in a clean and legible whole, with clear texts and numbers, perfectly consistent with Sapper's functionalist aesthetic. The acrylic lens glass recalls his technical vision and harmonises elegantly with the rest of the structure.
The object is completed by a black Saffiano leather case with velvet interior rosso, a refined reference to simple luxury and Italian craftsmanship. The UTS quartz movement, produced in Germany, guarantees unparalleled reliability and precision.
The Static model was originally designed for Lorenz as an innovative table clock: a case inclined cylindrical, similar to a bullet, which suggests both movement and stability.
Among the most original features stands out the self-righting base: thanks to a hidden counterweight, if you push or tilt the watch, it automatically returns to the vertical position. A detail that reveals Sapper's genius — not just aesthetics, but also a playful touch of functional ingenuity.
The design of the Static is now recognized as an icon of industrial design, featured in catalogs and museum collections around the world. The collaboration with Lorenz represented one of Sapper's first major projects in Italy, marking the beginning of an extraordinary career.
